Ocean Shores Popular UST three years ago the Ocean Shores Peninsula, a six-mile strip between Grays Harbor and the Pacific, was a deserted area of dunes and sinks, a grazing ground {or cattle, with no facil- ities, no road access, and few visitors-- all of them hardy. Now, with more than 200 motel units, a beautiful restaurant, two pools, a lush nine-hole golf course, a paved private air- strip and a brand new marine sports center for salmon fishermen, Ocean Shores has become one vf the "must see" resorts of the Pacific Coast. Just a three-hour drive from Seattle --16 miles northwest of Aberdeen and Hoquiam--Ocean Shores is catering more to family trade than ever before. For adults, the variety is even more so. There's golf, bowling, swimming in the surf or heated pools, fishing in the surf for ocean perch, or in Duck Lake for fighting bass, or from ocean-going charter boats for big Kings and silvers-- or a relaxing evening in the award- winning Ocean Shores theater restaurant, with floor show. dancing and cocktails, if desired. The historic S. S. Catala, which plied the coast run along BritisT Columbia for nearly 40 years, has been refitted, re- furbished and anchored as a "mother ship" and fishermen's boate] serving the Ocean Shores salmon fishing center. Charter boats tic up alongside the Catala between the runs across the Grays Har- bor bar to the ocean and the :finest salmon-fishing grounds anywhere, just offshore.
