Forest Ridge seniors compile honors
WO SENIORS with similar first names have been named the top students of Forest
Ridge Convent's 55th graduating class.
They are Ann McKinstry of Bellevue and Anne Hanify of Seattle.
The pair will lead 36 others from the private school for girls in Seattle's Catholic high
school combined commencement exercises, where diplomas will be given to all of the
seniors from the nine schools.
Miss McKinstry is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. McKinstry, 2011 89th St.
.... NEin Bellevue. She will attend on a scholarship Barat College ,of the Sacred Heart
in Lake Forest, Hi.
Her twin sister, Mary Ellen, has aLo received a scholarship from San Francisco
College for Women in the City by the Golden Gate.
Miss Hanify is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas J. Hanify, 1223 21st Ave. E. in
Seattle. She will attend Seattle University.
Other seniors receiving individual honors are Graciela Batista with a scholarship to
St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind. i and Glenna Franklin with the President's Schol-
arship from SU.
Baccalaureate ceremonies include a Mass and solemn Benediction on two separate
days.
Father John V. ,Murphy, S J, perfect of studies at Seattle Prep, was celebrant of the
Mass Thursday in the convent chapel.
Father George Purdy, SJ, pastor of St. Leo's Parish and superintendent of St. Leo's
School in Tacoma, will give the sermon at the Benediction, scheduled at 8 p.m. Mon-
day, June 3, in the convent chapel. Father John Codd, S J, of SU will be celebrant;
Father John Marsh of St. Teresa's Parish, deacon; and Father Frank Wood, SJ, of SU,
subdeacon.
Other graduation events will include the senior-junior prom next Wednesday in the
Sunset Club and the honors assembly at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 3.
The Convent of the Sacred Heart, Forest Ridge, located on Capitol Hill, is conducted
by Religious of the Sacred Heart. Mother A. Bourret, RSCJ, is principal.
